Daily Mulitivitamin for Healthy Hair & Scalp

Today’s Healthy Hair Tip: Take a Multivitamin for Healthy Hair

There are multiple benefits to adding a multivitamin to your daily routine.  Many of us don’t get the essential nutrients from the things we eat and a supplement can greatly improve the way our body works.

If our body works properly it’s going to produce the healthiest hair that it can.  Our scalp also needs proper nutrition in order to function in the correct way.   When looking for a daily supplement, there are certain vitamins in particular you’ll want to look for, that promote both overall health and hair health.  Vitamins C, E, and B provide anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and antioxidant effects.  These properties sooth the scalp, decrease irritation, and protect cells and follicles resulting in healthy hair.  Also look for vitamins that provide circulatory and digestive health like vitamin E and some of the B vitamins. When your digestive system works properly, you get the nutrients you need and a healthy circulatory system transports those nutrients to the scalp and hair follicle.

Ovation Hair has created a multivitamin that is not only formulated to promote overall health, but also includes herbs and extracts specifically known for their benefits to the hair and scalp*.  This unique multivitamin contains 11 vitamins, 6 minerals, amino acids and extracts from exotic and all natural roots, herbs, plants, and fruits. These ingredients were specifically chosen for their abundant health properties and are a great source of vitamins and minerals that are crucial for overall health.  Adding the Ovation Multivitamin to your daily routine is an easy and affordable way ($12.95 for a 60 supply) to achieve healthy hair.  For specific information, ingredients, and to purchase the Ovation Vitamins click here.

Enjoy healthy (thicker, stronger, and longer) hair!

2013 New Year’s Resolutions that your Hair will Love

Can you believe 2013 is next week? The whole New Year’s resolution thing gets me very excited.  It’s a good exercise not only because of the hope it brings for an upcoming new year and fresh start, but it also requires reflection and for me, a strong appreciation for the last year.

New Years Resolutions your Hair will Love

It’s interesting to think about what resolutions people make and why, the inspiration behind the decision, and whether they’ll follow through.  There are of course the standard resolutions and those that are unique as we are.  At Ovation we’re motivated by hair health so that is one thing I consider when deciding what resolutions to make.

These resolution ideas will not only make you feel great, they will give your hair a happy new year too!

Drink more water – Drinking more water is a great resolution because it’s measurable, attainable, wonderful for overall health and the health of your hair!  Each strand of hair is made up of about 25% water, so your hair needs to stay hydrated to remain healthy.  The scalp also needs water to keep the hair shaft moisturized.  Each person should drink half their weight in oz of water per day.  Whether this means cutting down on other drinks like sodas or just increasing your water intake, this is one easy resolution that has huge rewards.

Eat healthier, no junk food – Eating healthy is by far one of the most notorious of resolutions and probably also one of the first to be abandoned.  Choosing a healthy diet benefits your hair immensely because it’s the most effective way for your body to get the nutrients it needs.  If your body isn’t getting those nutrients, your scalp health becomes less of a priority and can deteriorate.

Know that healthy is an important word here and eating healthier and decreasing junk food is very different than losing weight in an unhealthy way.  Severe weight loss and crash diets are one of the main reasons for hair loss.

Take a multivitamin – As mentioned above, the best thing you can do for your hair is to make sure your body is healthy, but even eating healthy doesn’t guarantee that you’re getting all the nutrients you need. Taking a daily multivitamin will provide you with a great source of vitamins and minerals that are crucial to good health.  Another huge benefit to taking the right multivitamin is that it will keep your scalp, hair, and skin healthy as well.

We recently launched a multivitamin that includes vitamins that do just that. The Ovation Multivitamin also has added extracts from all natural roots, herbs, plants, and fruits that are known for their health and hair benefits.

Go natural – Many people are not only introducing natural and organic food items into their diets, but are also committing to the use of naturally derived body and hair care products. After all, these items are being consumed too when absorbed into the skin.  By purchasing naturally derived products, you’re getting higher quality ingredients which of course make your scalp happy. You’re also avoiding harsh chemicals that could be building up on your scalp, causing irritation and possibly even worse.

Ovation products are naturally derived and contain vitamins, antioxidants, plant extracts, and aromatherapy scents that all work to promote healthy hair.

Quit smoking – We all know that smoking causes all types of health problems, so while your lungs and heart will be very happy without nicotine, so will your hair. Smoking is said to induce both premature hair loss and graying because it interferes with the circulation that the scalp and follicle need. Carbon Monoxide and other toxins found in cigarettes make it difficult for your cells to reproduce into healthy cells, including the cells needed for hair growth and strength.

When it comes to resolutions, the options are endless so whether you choose a resolution that benefits your hair or not, make this New Year a great one and may 2013 be your best year yet!

Five Things You Can Do Every Day for Healthier Hair

Five things you can do every day for Healthy Hair

Improving the health of your hair is definitely not something you can do overnight.  It is a process that takes time, patience and dedication.  For a results oriented person like me, this can be discouraging and with all the different ways to improve hair health, I get a bit overwhelmed.  If you’re at all like me, you may think to yourself, “Where do I even begin?”

One way is to start small, so I found five easy and most importantly doable steps you can take on a daily basis to improve and maintain your hair health.

Drink lots of water – Everyone knows that drinking lots of water is necessary for overall health, but many don’t realize how important water is for you hair.  Each strand of hair is made up of about 25% water.  The body and scalp need that water to keep the hair shaft moisturized.  Each person needs 8-10 8oz glasses of water every day and even more if you drink coffee, alcohol or work out.  Think about this next time you want to skip out on the water…hydrated hair is healthy hair!

Use heat protection – Most people expose heat to their hair every day, whether its sunlight, a blow-dryer, curling or straight iron and this exposure can cause major damage.  Because we’re so dependent on heated styling tools and treatments, it would be very difficult to eliminate heat exposure, but there is an easy step to decrease it: Use a heat or thermal protection spray.  This type of product coats the hair and protects the strands from breakage and dehydration.  Ovation’s Thermal Protection Spray not only protects the hair from heat, it also has naturally derived ingredients that moisturize the hair and make it more manageable throughout the day.

Take a supplement – Hair grows best when the body and scalp have all the nutrients they need.  If you’re not consuming those vitamins and nutrients in the food you eat, taking a supplement can greatly improve the health of your hair.  Multivitamins that includes B Vitamins like Biotin and Folic Acid, Vitamin A and E, and minerals such as Phosphorus and Zinc are especially beneficial for hair.

Use sulfate free hair productsSulfate free shampoos provide a gentle cleanse without stripping the scalp of essential oils that it needs to produce healthy hair.  By using sulfate free hair care products, you also avoid exposing the scalp to harsh and potentially harmful chemicals.  A healthy scalp = a healthy head of hair so when it comes to hair care products, I say go natural!

Scalp massage – Who doesn’t love a good scalp massage? Well, here’s an excuse to give yourself one on a daily basis…your hair loves it!  Massaging the scalp, even if just for a few minutes stimulates and increase blood flow to both the scalp and hair follicle.  It can even increase the strength of the hair root, making the hair strands stronger and thicker.

These tasks are not only easy, quick, and beneficial for your hair, most of them are great for your general health as well, why not give them a try?

Remember, healthier hair is within reach!
